So let me just tell you, Ive come to the realization now that i'm growing up and that means paying for my own items with of course my own money. Just to throw it out there, i'm a college student with a retail job that pays the very minimum. I don't have a wad full of cash to be shopping at Costco or going to big grocery stores say Trader Joe's. The big question floating my mind is, "What can I eat that is decently healthy, doesn't cost to much, and is easy to prepare." Im starting to get a good focus on exercising and getting a good sense of what I should be eating. Before I say anything i will say there is a lot of crap at this store meaning a lot of candy and other junk food, but if you take your time and actually look around you will be surprised what you can find.
Ive found some really awesome things in this store in the past. I plan to post awesome finds here when I hit the 99 Cent Store or even a mixture of 99 Cent Store + Dollar Tree, if I feel its worthy of sharing. So lets start off: Today I went to the store and and had the most time to look and shop of course i got all excited and had a hand basket full of products, to my surprise I hit the register without my debit card.Of course I would leave home without my debit card and cellphone. Wow, Just Wow. Luckily i had 5 bucks in my wallet. So embarrassing, luckily nobody was behind me. So I had to leave my plethora of goodies and only get 5 items and leave the rest, but regardless this is what I got.
-1 pkg. of Guerrero whole wheat tortillas
-1 Paisano Mio grated italian topping(i assumed it was pretty much parmesan cheese)
-1 pkg. Swiss Miss Marshmallow hot chocolate
-1 pkg. Betty Crocker super moist spice cake mix(I have plans to use this soon for Halloween)
-1 box of Crispy oat rounds( aka off brand cherrios)
So there are tortillas in a package and i feel its a good choice versus the regular corn tortillas, just though i'd pick them up to make chicken wraps for lunch. So next item I have to talk about is the parmesan cheese lookin thing. I looked at the ingredients and it indeed is some sort of cheese mixture, i got it mainly to top pasta when i make it. I mean who doesn't like cheese. I could also use this to top some other dishes I make later on. Okay the hot chocolate was not a necessity but I couldn't resist. When it gets cold at night hot chocolate is something you can just indulge in, for heavens sake its chocolate plus sometimes i don't want to sip tea, I need variety. I want to keep my pantry stocked with this item because its going to start getting colder as we move into November. The Betty Crocker cake mix was something i was pretty excited about. Its the regular size you would find at your regular grocery store. Most cake mixes at the 99 cent store are smaller and each 12 cupcakes or 10 cookies etc. Woohoo for cake mix. Last but not least is the Crispy oat rounds. I like to munch on cereal as a snack sometimes and I just happen to choose these. I know there off brand but we will see how they taste. I mean im not positive its a steal since its only 7 oz but hey when you want cereal you will take what you can get.
That all I bought but we'll have to see when I go back considering I left more than half of my groceries. Hopefully i'll go again this week. I mean I work a few buildings down from there, the only problem is trying to go when I actually have time. They stay open pretty late but with my schedule at work, they close before I finish work. :( We will see.
